Thérèse of Lisieux born Marie Françoise-Thérèse Martin; January 1873 - September 1897, also known as Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face. A French Catholic Carmelite nun, widely revered in our time. She was a highly influential model of holiness for Catholics and others because of the simplicity and practicality of her approach to the spiritual life. She is one of the most popular saints in the history of the church. She felt an early calling to religious life, in 1888, at the age of 15, she became a nun and joined her two older sisters in the closed Carmelite community of Lisieux. Teresa died at the age of 24 from tuberculosis.
